North Korea recently conducted a ballistic missile test in the context of large-scale military exercises between the United States and South Korea.

Yonhap reported, citing Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff, that North Korea had fired a ballistic missile into the East Sea.

Washington and Seoul have stepped up security cooperation in the wake of North Korea's record-breaking nuclear weapons tests and nuclear threats from the country. The two countries started the biggest military exercise in the last five years on March 13. This exercise known as Freedom Shield will last for 10 days.

Meanwhile, North Korea is considering this exercise as a pre-attack preparation. The country has repeatedly warned that it will take "unprecedented" measures in response to the exercise.
